Clouseed & Rimeroot

Clouseed & Rimeroot

Designation: the SEEDED CLOUD & PERMAFROST cillimorphs

Group: GROWER

Native Biomes: PLANET WOODZY & PLANET BRRR

Size: SMALL & MEDIUM

Interesting Facts: Clouseed regulates its water supply across all three common phases of matter so that it can fly, rain, and snow whenever it wants. It uses precipitation to spread seeds and make spread out gardens over large ranges. Rimeroot often appears as a patch of fog on the ground, but then shoots up and slides around after it makes the soil around it too cold.

Clamzer & Swivalve

Clamzer & Zaberclamp

Designation: the RAZOR CLAM cillimorphs

Group: SPINELESS

Native Biomes: PLANET SPLISHY

Size: SMALL

Interesting Facts: Clamzer’s shell is very sharp, which is doubly dangerous because it spends so much time shallowly buried in beach sand. Usually it will pop up right before you step on it to keep you safe, but if you’re wearing really ugly flip-flops it will continue to lurk and slice them in half. Zaberclamp can store its entire body in its shell, using its armored cap to seal itself into its armor.

Goaph & Loamleroy

Designation: the GOPHER cillimorphs

Group: MAMMALISH

Native Biomes: PLANET WOODZY & PLANET SCORCHER

Size: SMALL

Interesting Facts: Goaph spends a lot of time underground, but usually sticks its butt up in the air so it can wiggle its toesies unencumbered. Loamleroy likes to wear a crusty collar of earth to plump up its cute lil’ cheeks, but sometimes runs out of breath because it’s a little too tight and hard to get off.

Twitch Stream Stories Redux #8: Who has the Green Expectations?

These stories were written live on stream based on prompts provided by the viewers. They have been edited, with this second more in-depth edit occurring much later, but not meaningfully rewritten or expanded so as to preserve the spirit of the exercise. Sadly, the prompts themselves were not recorded until many stories in.  Sometimes the prompts were silly challenges, or quirky thoughts, or dark ideas, or utter nonsense.  I did my best each time.

If you enjoy this, please check out the other activities from the stream. If you would like something longer and much more thoroughly planned, simply investigate my more traditional work at the top of the page.

Who has the Green Expectations?

Prompt provided by dark_lord3

The man seemed to misplace his name. All of a sudden he couldn’t remember it, although he remembered his situation just fine. He was currently traveling through time, strolling through it really, and observing the effect. The time tunnel was a pleasant light show, his mind having difficulty following it, what with the quantum confusion and all.

He recalled what he was doing before the time tunnel, just ten minutes ago, if minutes still existed. He was very devoted to his idea, having spent years getting everything arranged, those years now looking like nothing more than plastic bags over his shoulder. Time travel had eluded everyone else, but his idea was fresh. Continue reading

Pokeyperch & Ribrage

Pokeyperch & Ribrage

Designation: the IBERIAN RIBBED NEWT & RIB CAGE cillimorphs

Group: REPTOPHIBIAN

Native Biomes: PLANET WOODZY & PLANET BOLDERO

Size: SMALL & MEDIUM

Interesting Facts: Pokeyperch’s middle ribs stick way out of its skin, providing a tempting perch for cillimorph spiritual energies, which take the form of little glowing birdies that help guide their ride through dark woods and caves. Ribrage traps these energies inside its body; its unclear why it does this, since imprisonment kills the spirits’ light.

stargat&sunfuse

Stargat & Sunfuse

Designation: the SHOOTING STARLING & SUN cillimorphs

Group: BIRDISH

Native Biomes: OUTER SPACE

Size: SMALL & LARGE

Interesting Facts: Stargat lives its entire life in space, so has no need for feet. It may appear that the gigantic Sunfuse has feet, but those are just asteroid tongs. Sunfuse is too big for rasslin’ matches at its normal size, so it’ll get smaller to hang out with you so you don’t have to be embarrassed about being such a short lil’ poundcake.

Astrobill & Magnifither

Designation: the SHOOTING STARLING & SUPERHERO cillimorphs

Group: BIRDISH

Native Biomes: OUTER SPACE

Size: SMALL & MEDIUM

Interesting Facts: Full of hot gas, fire, and daring-do, Astrobill and Sunfuse patrol lower orbit in search of astronauts that might need rescuing. If there’s nobody to rescue they get pathetic and deflated, so even if you’re not in trouble you should maybe thrash and shout a little and let them escort you to a fainting couch.

Whimmy & Wormount

Whimmy & Wormount

Designation: the HORSEHAIR WORM cillimorphs

Group: SPINELESS

Native Biomes: PLANET WOODZY

Size: SMALL & MEDIUM

Interesting Facts: Whimmy and Wormount fold their worm-like bodies into horsey shapes so they can gallop around a lot faster. You can ride Wormount, but only if you’re comfortable sitting with nothing but a whipcord between your booty cheeks. Wormount’s guts can be seen, making it very easy to judge its health.

Knocbat & Rushmorb

Knocbat & Rushmorb

Designation: the DOORKNOCKER cillimorphs

Group: COLONIAL

Native Biomes: PLANET BOLDERO & PLANET URBANIAK

Size: SMALL & MEDIUM

Interesting Facts: They have a superficial resemblance to some mammalish cillimorphs, but they’re colonial: made up of a lot of smaller individuals grouped together into a single entity. A good rule of thumb is that if their flesh looks like it’s made of something like ice or rock it’s probably actually colonial.

They love to hang on big doors and stone walls and get knocked. Rushmorb is too big for all but the strongest people to knock, so it flies around in search of bodybuilders and over-compensaters.

Twitch Stream Story: Thieving Tom Puts it Back

Author’s Note:  This flash fiction story was written based on a prompt provided by Justintoonz during a livestream.  I hereby transfer all story rights to them, with the caveat that it remain posted on this blog.  If you would like your own story, stop by twitch.tv/blainearcade during one of my streams and I’ll write it for you live!

Prompt: “A thief finds a mask containing a snarky evil spirit inside.”

Thieving Tom Puts it Back

The book he’d stolen didn’t just contain many magic spells; it also helpfully told him about various artifacts worth stealing. He wasn’t even a thief until he’d found the book and been turned down as a customer. Really, why even shelve the thing if you weren’t going to sell it, Mr. decrepit old hermit in your very brown store that was more dust and earwigs than merchandise?

Ah, he realized in sinking despair, stolen mask in his lap, blood clot of consequences now freewheeling through his morale, because the book wanted to be stolen. It took itself out of storage. Same as this mask that won’t shut up. They all want to be active again. That’s what magic is: eager chaos. Continue reading
